Halloween 2017

I searched high and low to find a tractor costume for Jay Wheeler.
Who would have guessed that I would finally find it on sale at Home Goods for less than 20 bones?
#winning
JJ was absolutely smitten to have his own scoop.
He was truly amazed that simply proclaiming "trick-or-treat" would get him free candy and hammed it up all night. Luckily, he also said thank you (most of the time...).
Though next year my goal is to teach him to steer clear of Whoppers and instead go for the Reese's Peanut Butter cups. #amiright?
Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween 2015

Halloween was pretty low key for us this year given that we have a 2-week old and mama is still in recovery mode. In the morning, Justin and I carved pumpkins while JJ napped. I did a silhouette of Thule, Justin carved a bat, and even JJ got his own mini pumpkin.

I did get us all(extremely simple) matching costumes! Even Thule joined in on the fun. We were cowboys and cowgirls and Jay was the Sheriff (complete with overalls, hat, bandana, and a bright yellow Sheriff's star). We went trick-or-treating at exactly one house--to our across the street neighbors whose just adore little Jay. Then we hung out at home waiting for trick-or-treaters...of which we got none. I was pretty disappointed by that because we are in a REAL house this year so I was all excited for a bunch of costumed kiddos to come knocking at our door. That and I convinced Justin that we needed to buy 4 bags of Halloween candy...

Nonetheless it was a fun way to spend Baby Jay's FIRST real holiday in the world. This type of thing sure is more fun once you have kids! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be prepping the Thunell house for Christmas.

Belated Halloween

We love holidays, only Halloween is not my favorite.
I almost considered not dressing up this year, but then I realized holidays are much more fun with a husband around! Having a family to celebrate helps keep the magic of mystical creatures, glowing jack-o-lanterns, and a bowl full of chocolately goodness alive.

We didn't plan a couples costume (mostly because we make-shifted our costumes in the few days before Halloween), but never fear, I have the most spectacular idea up my sleeve for next year!
The night was simple with a trunk-or-treat for the neighborhood kids, but we had a ball seeing them show off in their darling costumes.
Somehow we managed to go through an extra large bag of candy on only 15 or so trick-or-treaters.
Probably because I inherited my dad's giant-handful-of-candy mentality; none of that one-piece-per-kid stuff.
(Besides all the pieces we sneaked while the kids were walking around that is...)

You can tell that Justin was much more in character than me. He pulls off a big old baby awfully well, if I say so myself. Work that bib and bink, baby!

No pun intended.

Happy (belated) Halloween!

Carving

Who would have thought that 2 days away from November
and we would be able to sit outside without jackets and carve pumpkins in the evening air?
We had a lot of fun free-handing the designs.
Mine is a friendly black widow
and Justin's is a ravenous vulture.

We are house sitting for a while,
and tomorrow we have quite the agenda planned for the spookiest night of the year.
Namely passing out candy to all the little darlings in this neighborhood, a fall feast, and watching the second half of Hocus Pocus.
We figured these little jack-o-lanterns would add some festivity to the front porch.
Hopefully the kids will be able to tell what they are...

I am totally smitten with this gorgeous season!
Happy Carving!  Oh Happy Life!
