Christmas Tea at the Brown Palace

Stepping into the historic Brown Palace hotel in downtown Denver is like jumping back in time to my all time favorite of decades, the nineteen fifties. Can you imagine living in an era when Bing Crosby and Dean Martin were all the rage? I swoon just thinking about wearing fitted taffeta dresses, peter pan collars, and saddle shoes every day. I am always telling Justin it is my DREAM to stay a night there (*hint hint*). But the next best thing is simply visiting.  Every year the Brown Palace hosts Christmas tea throughout the month of December. It is a magically festive event that is booked months out. Luckily, I have a most timely sister who remembered to make reservations for us Nelson girls back in September.

We sat in the twinkling light of a giant Christmas tree while sipping tea (herbal vanilla rooibos for me) out of real china teacups, listening to apacella songs by authentic carolers, and munching on tea sandwiches and scones smeared with Devonshire cream. You can't help by feel fancy and sophisticated being there. Jay was an angle and slept almost the entire time, allowing ample time to chatting with my mom and sister. And you can't even imagine all the swooning looks he got from all the ladies when I took him out to nurse just before leaving.

Now I am fired up for Christmas to get here. Can you believe it is less than three weeks away?
